Kathryn Bock, 89, of Shawano, stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday afternoon, Oct. 21, 2013, with her loving family at her side.
Kathryn was born May 23, 1924, in Emory, Texas, a daughter of the late James and Rodella (Johnson) Rhodes. She attended school in Texas.
On July 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert Bock in Dallas, Texas. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Dallas for a brief time, later moving to Washington, D.C. The couple eventually settled in Deerfield, Ill., to start a family. They spent summers at their cottage on Legend Lake and eventually moved to Shawano.
Kathryn worked in retail for several years, but preferred to be a stay-at-home mother and housewife. She was baptized Baptist, but eventually became a practicing Missouri Synod Lutheran. Kathryn was an active volunteer at the churches, nursing homes and at the Lutheran Thrift Shop for many years. She was a huge fan of jazz music. She was also an avid reader and loved to send Hallmark cards to people. Her husband, Bob, preceded her in death on April 16, 2002.
Kathryn is survived by her loving daughter, Alesia Bock (Heather Fries), of Madison; a sister Betty June (Dewey) Scarborough, of Kerrville, Texas; a niece, Linda Rappe, of Wheeling, Ill.
Kathryn was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Nedbal, in 2001, infant twin sons, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services for Kathryn Bock will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, at 12 p.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Roy Rinehart and Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service on Friday after 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers and plants, it was Kathryn’s request that memorials be made to The Shawano Friends of Hospice or to the American Heart Association in her name.
