Five-year-old Isabella Lundt had a dream come true recently when the Cinderella Carriage, sponsored by the Make a Wish Foundation, pulled up in front of her Clintonville home.
Bella and her family rode the carriage to McDonald’s for lunch and then to the Community Center for a party.
That was only the beginning.
Make a Wish also is giving the family a trip to Disney World in Orlando, where Isabella will have lunch with the Disney princesses.
Sandi and Dan Lundt adopted Bella when she was 3 weeks old. When she was 3 months old, Bella was having difficulty breathing.
Diagnosed with congestive heart failure, she was transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee, where she remained for several weeks.
Doctors there determined Bella suffered from dilated cardiomyopathy and hypertension. They advised the family to take her home and to “love for as long as you can,” Sandi Lundt said.
Bella also has generalized arterial calcification of infancy and pseudoxanthoma elasticum, a skin condition that can cause blindness.
Despite the health issues, Bella has remained strong.
“Bella has brought so much to our family,” Sandi Lundt said. “She has taught us about love.”
Joining Bella and her parents on the trip are sisters Faith, 13, Grace, 11, and Hope, 9. The Lundts adopted the four girls after their three older children had already left home.
