Roman J. Muskavitch

Roman J. Muskavitch, 91, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 17, 2014, at ManorCare of Shawano, following a brief stay. Roman was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Shawano, a son of the late Roman and Anna (Engel) Muskavitch. Roman attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and later Shawano High School, graduating in 1941. Roman lived and farmed in the town of Belle Plaine his entire life. He was a good and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Knights Society. Roman was also a member of the National Rifle Association and was a committed member of the Republican Party. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and orchard. Survivors include three nieces, Margie Douglas, of Combined Locks, Martha Muskavitch, of Milwaukee, and Lisa Riesselmann, of Illinois; three nephews, Michael (Sherry) Muskavitch, of Ripon, Patrick Muskavitch, of Green Bay, and Marc Muskavitch, of Boston, Mass. He is further survived by other great-nieces and nephews and his constant companion, Tipper, as well as his best friend, Floyd “Twig” Hartwig, of Shawano. Roman was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Lawrence and Raymond Muskavitch, and three sisters, Magdalen and Irene Muskavitch and Marcella Reichel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 23, at 5 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the gymnasium at Sacred Heart on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
