Virgil W. Pluger, 88, of Ringle died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Kennedy Park Nursing Home in Schofield.
Virgil was born on Aug. 28, 1926, in the town of Herman (Shawano County) to the late Ferdinand and Mayme (Kuhn) Pluger. He married Dorothy Robinson on Nov. 18, 1944, in Shawano. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 2014.
Virgil proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Virgil and Dorothy lived in Wauwatosa, where Virgil was employed as a welder at AO Smith in Milwaukee. After his retirement in 1978, they moved to Ringle. Virgil was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, listening to polka music and going to the casino.
Virgil is survived by his children, Linda (Jim) Perkins, of Menomonee Falls, Joan Martin, of Kewaskum, Dave (Deb) Pluger, of Richfield, Steve (Kim) Pluger, of Hatley, and Lisa (Rich) Seefeldt, of Rothschild; 11 grandchildren, Ann Pomush, Mike (Kris) Imobersteg, Tony Martin, Julie (Paul) Sawicki, Dayna (Justin) Brandt, Dory Pluger, Tanya (Ryan) Baker, Troy (Tiffany) Pluger, Paul (Heidi) Seefeldt, Jill (Brandon) Taylor, Greg Seefeldt; 13 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Eric, Brayden, Ashlynn, Kyle, Kayla, Levi, Lily, Piper, Blaine, Liam, and Graysin; brothers and sisters, Arvin (Til) Pluger, of Clintonville, Elizabeth (Larry) Voelske, of Fall River, Shirley Buss, of Marion, Patricia (Gabe) Hollander, of Wausau, Robert (Mary) Pluger, of Tilleda, Jeanette Pitt, of Bonduel, Floyd (Sherry) Pluger, of Clintonville, Douglas (Sandy) Pluger, of Korea, and Darleen (Michael) Little, of Florida.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, son Gary, daughter Lois, and a brother Wayne.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser St., Weston. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Burial will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo, with full military honors. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the church.
