The Clintonville Area Historical Society will celebrate its 40th anniversary July 18 with tours, displays and more.
The History House, Cordwood House and Denn Cabin will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Pioneer Park. Trolley tours, narrated by Gerry O’Connor, will run hourly.
A Living Cemetery program in Graceland and St. Rose cemeteries will showcase local volunteers portraying 11 people of historical interest.
Displays from the society, local fraternal groups, businesses and others will be set up in the Community Center, 30 S. Main St. A display by the Boyer family and Dennis Lichtenberg showcases agriculture and rural life in the area.
The America Legion Auxiliary will serve food, and a bake sale will take place.
The Wisconsin Bow Hunters Museum on East Third Street and the FWD Museum on 11th Street will be open for tours.
Christ Congregational Church, which was constructed in 1895, will be recognized.
Committee members planning the 40th birthday events are CAHS President Marilyn Berkvam, events chair Sarah Haankins, Doug Carrick, Nancy Eberhardt, Jeanne Giordana, Mike Hankins, Sandy Loberg, Kathy Mitchell, Rosalee Rohloff, Gerry O’Connor and Ann VanGrinsven.
The event is funded by a grant from the Clintonville Foundation and the historical society.
