After a long wonderful life filled with family, friends, gardening, boating, skiing and enjoying her home on the Wolf River, Adella Schenk Abbott passed away on Nov. 12, 2015, at Agrace Hospice Care in Madison.
Adella graduated from Shawano High School and the Wisconsin School of Cosmetology in Green Bay, and owned Les Femmes Beauty Salon in Shawano. She was a life member of the Wisconsin Optometric Association Auxiliary, Shawano Historical Society and Shawano Medical Center Auxiliary. Her involvement in the First Presbyterian Church of Shawano included being elder and president of their women’s organization. She also was a tutor for the Shawano Literary Council before spending her final years in and near Madison.
On July 27, 1940, she married Dr. Augustus N. Abbott, OD, who preceded her in death. Through the years she enjoyed her growing family and their families.
Survivors include her daughters, Winifred (Kurt) Stubenvoll and Bonnie Abbott Grosnick (James Smith); son, Wilson N. Abbott (Caroline Davis); along with nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering is being planned for next summer.
