Listen for the siren and watch for the helicopter. The 2014 Community Safety Fair takes place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 14, at Community Memorial Hospital near the Oconto Falls Ambulance Garage, 855 S. Main St. This free, family event will feature fun and educational safety demonstrations, giveaways and activities for all ages.
The Eagle 3 helicopter will land at 9 a.m., followed by a Jaws of Life demonstration at 10 a.m., coloring contest awards at 11 a.m. and a bike raffle at 11:30 a.m. Smokey Bear and K-9 Baron will make appearances.
Individuals are invited to bring their bikes and bike helmets for a free safety check. Participants can learn about car seat, sports and playground safety, and see emergency vehicles and a smoke house. A teddy bear clinic and face painting will be available for the kids.
The Community Safety Fair is presented by Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls Area Ambulance Service, Safe Kids of Oconto County, Oconto Falls Fire Department, Oconto County Department of Emergency Management, Oconto County Public Health Department, Oconto Falls Police Department, Oconto and Brown County 911 dispatchers, Oconto Electric Cooperative, Oconto County Sheriff’s Department, Rainbow House of Northeast Wisconsin, Oconto County University of Wisconsin-Extension, County Rescue, Eagle III, Tyco Fire Suppression and Building Products, ResCare Home Health, St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay Oncology, Department of Natural Resources, Lions Club and Hometown Veterinary Clinic.
