Angeline “Angie” Myrtle Ruege, 93, Suring, passed away, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She had accepted the Lord’s hand.
Angie was born in Maple Valley on Dec. 16, 1920, to the late Hans P. and Marie (Skougard) Hansen. She was born and raised on the family homestead and resided there her entire life.
Angie graduated from Suring High School. On Sept. 7, 1940, she married Alfred Ruege. Together they farmed the homestead until retirement.
Angie enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors. Her true joy came from being a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Angie was a talented individual. She worked various craft projects, was an avid reader, loved to travel, cook, bake and garden. She was a member of Suring United Methodist Church.
Angie is survived by her three children, Lois (Richard) Adams, Donald (June) Ruege and Gary (Betty) Ruege; three grandchildren, Steve (Rose) Ruege, Retha (John) Kellner and Mike (Renae) Adams; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jonathan, Sydney, Izzabella, Alexandra, Katherine, Kim, King, Knight, Kirstin, Alyssa and Eva; two great-great-grandchildren, Gabe and Neta. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on Aug. 15, 1996; her parents, Hans P. and Marie Hansen; her brother, Fernand Hansen; and her sister, Elaine Hansen.
Visitation was held at Suring United Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Daniel Nault officiating. Angie will be laid to rest in Hickory Cemetery next to her husband.
