Dorothea Jaeger, 84, Oconto Falls, died Thursday evening, Dec. 4, 2014, at home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1930, at her childhood home to Michael and Wanda Schafrik. On Oct. 1, 1949, she married Clarence Jaeger, and together they owned and operated a family farm.
Dorothea loved quilting and sewed several quilts for family members and hundreds for World Relief. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley and volunteered for over 25 years for Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Dorothea also volunteered for Respite Care and was a longtime Sunday school teacher at St. John’s Lutheran, Riverside.
Survivors are her three children, Thomas Jaeger, Barbara Zastrow and James Jaeger; five grandchildren, Daniel Jaeger, Melissa (Mike) Brown, Julie (Matthew) Schelk, Benjamin (Veronica) Zastrow and Aprill Jaeger; four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Emma, Adalyn and Emory; two step-grandchildren, Jason DeBauche and Tanya Little, and their children; five sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janet Loberger, Deloris Van Laarhoven, Irene Houck, Art and Arlene Jaeger; several nieces and nephews.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Clarence, on April 11, 2011, seven brothers and sisters, 10 in-laws and their spouses and one son-in-law.
Visitation was held at Bethel Lutheran Church, N6955 County Road BB, Oconto Falls, after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, until the time of service. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Bill Gruenstern officiating. Burial followed in St. John’s Riverside Cemetery, town of Oconto Falls. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Jaeger family.
