Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will holding open auditions for its next musical, “Nunsense,” from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 at The Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams.
Actors age 15 and older are welcome to audition. They should prepare to sing an upbeat song from a musical (not a song from “Nunsense”). Actors must audition in order to be in the show; no late entries will be allowed.
Rehearsals will generally be on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning in January. Show dates are scheduled for April 10-12 and April 17-19. Actors should be available for all rehearsals and show dates.
The group is also looking for volunteers to serve as Backstage and Front of House Crew as well.
“Nunsense” (book, music and lyrics by Dan Goggin) begins with the Little Sisters of Hoboken discovering that their cook has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters. In dire need of funds for the burials, the sisters decide to raise the money by putting on a variety show. So the sisters take over Mount St. Helen’s school auditorium, which is currently set up for the school’s production of “Grease.”
The show has delighted audiences with more than 5,000 productions worldwide and has been translated into 21 languages.
