The Gillett FFA celebrated 86 years of leadership, personal growth and career success at the Wisconsin FFA Convention from June 15-18 in Madison.
The convention attracted more than 3,000 members, advisers, parents, alumni and sponsors.
Gillett FFA members Ashley Britton, Kalea Britton, Hanna Brock, Elizabeth Kahler, Samantha Kahler, Danielle Timm and Jacob Timm attended the convention.
Danielle Timm was recognized for receiving a gold rating on her equine production-placement supervised agricultural experience program.
Jacob Timm was recognized on stage for receiving a Washington Leadership Conference scholarship from the Wisconsin FFA Alumni. He also was named as a national delegate and will travel to the national convention with the state FFA officer team. Delegates are responsible for making recommendations for one of the nine national committees, attending convention business sessions and voting on key issues that will guide the organization into the future.
Sarah Nauke submitted a two-dimensional print of a cow to the state agricultural artwork competition.
Hanna Brock and Jacob Timm served as state delegates. They participated in committee meetings, voted on constitutional amendments and voted for the sectional officer.
“Students enrolled in agricultural education in Wisconsin schools who are members of the FFA have a fantastic opportunity for leadership and career development,” Wisconsin FFA Executive Director Cheryl Zimmerman said. “The Wisconsin FFA Convention is our opportunity to recognize the importance of the education of our society about agriculture and the achievement of young people who are the future leaders of the agriculture industry.”
