Martha Rose Fischer, 92, of Gillett, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, with family by her side.
Martha was born on the Menominee Indian Reservation on Aug. 17, 1933, to the late Martin and Caroline (Vigue) Krueger. She was an enrolled member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. Martha was raised on her family farm on Berry Lake and always looked back on that time very fondly. She graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1951.
On March 20, 1954, Martha married Robert Fischer at Christ Lutheran Church, Hintz. Together, the couple ran the family dairy farm for 70 years.
She was the runner-up for Wisconsin Farm Woman of the Year in 1997. Martha was very active in the community including as a University of Wisconsin-Extension 4-H leader, member of the Oconto County Homemakers for 50 years, president of Christ Lutheran’s Ladies Aid, and member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
She also greatly enjoyed participating in her Tuesday Swingers-Oak View Farm golf group and was proud to earn a hole-in-one Oct. 16, 1994. Martha walked with the Lord by her side her entire life as a member of Christ Lutheran.
Martha is survived by her six children, Ralph Fischer, Rebecca (Jeff Vele) Edler, Susan Ladwig, Ruth Fischer, Amy (Lou) Williams and Ellen Matson; brothers, David (Karen) Krueger and Doug (Kathy) Krueger; sisters, Kerianna (Martin) Fuhrmann and Gerry Siegel; sister-in-law, Mary Fischer; brother-in-law, Jake Jacobson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; brother, Roger Krueger; sisters, Carol (John) Lynch and Dolores Jacobson; son-in-law, Richard Ladwig; daughter-in-law, Barbara (Reed) Fischer; niece, Patty Tupper; nephews, Roger Jacobson and Gary Siegel; brothers-in-law, Roger Fischer and Ray Siegel.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, Hintz, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Paholke officiating. Martha will be interred at Christ Lutheran Cemetery beside Robert.
