Both the boys and girls basketball teams at Shawano Community High School will have new coaches next season.

Kayla Brendemuehl, activities and athletics director, sent letters to players and families in April announcing the changes.

Girls coach Ryan Koenig announced that he is resigning after 14 seasons.

In his time at Shawano, beginning in 2012, Koenig coached the team to multiple winning seasons and coached the Hawks to the sectional finals the last two seasons.

As a Shawano coach, Koenig eclipsed the 150-win mark and had six winning seasons.

District officials said all scheduled basketball activities will continue as planned to maintain stability for players during the transition.

Matti Koehler will serve as interim head coach while the district searches for a permanent replacement.

In a separate letter to players and families, Brendemuehl said Dave Ambrosius will not be returning to the boys program.

The district says all scheduled basketball activities, including open gyms, summer league and workouts, will continue as planned during the transition.

Macguire Flood will serve as interim head coach while the district seeks for a permanent replacement.
