Springborn wins sport modifieds feature race

The new clay was put on the Shawano Speedway just days before the May 10 races, and it appears to have held up well. New London’s Tanner Janke started second but took the checkered flag in the modified feature race. Pole sitter Gary Janke, of Bear Creek, dropped to third with Clintonville’s Lucas Lamberies in between in second place. Gary Janke won the first heat, and Lamberies won the second heat. AJ Springborn, of Shawano, won the 20-lap sport modifieds feature race, starting in the pole position and maintaining the No. 1 spot in the end. Freedom’s JJ Vanderloop was second, and Shawano’s Tommy Rindt was third. Springborn won the first heat, and Rindt captured the second. In the late models feature, Mosinee’s Andy Karl won, with Rindt in second. Horicon’s Jeremy Christians won the stock car feature race after staring in 10th place. Marion’s Dan Michonski finished second, and Manitowoc’s Brett Wenzel place third. Heat winners were Wausau’s Mitch Stankowski and Embarrass’ Nate Michonski. Winning the Mighty 4’s feature was Seth Collar of Clintonville, who also started on the pole. Shawano’s Andrew Yeager moved up from seventh to place second, while Shawano’s Scott Blanke moved up from eighth to place third. Heat winners were Taylor Junk, of Shawano, and Justin Haufe, of Marion.
