Sign up now for Citizens Police Academy

There is still time to sign up for the Citizens Police Academy, which will have classes starting Sept. 11. This is an interactive class where you get to see how law enforcement officers train and see how they deal with different aspects of their jobs. Experiences will include the opportunity to see what it’s like to make a traffic stop, do some building clearing where a suspect may be, learn some defense and arrest tactics including handcuffing, tour the Shawano Fire Department and do some hands-on activities, tour the Shawano Ambulance and their ambulances, as well as many other activities. Class will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 11 through Nov. 6. Residency can be in Shawano or Menominee County. If you live somewhere close to Shawano County and don’t have a class in your area, reach out anyway as you might be able to get signed up. Residents must be 18 to participate.
