Joan E. Vanlerberghe, 76, of Green Bay, passed away Thursday evening, May 23, 2024, at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay.
She was born Oct. 30, 1947, in Shawano to the late Henry and Bernice (Balke) Dillenburg.
Joan was a graduate of Shawano High School with the class of 1965. On March 4, 1972, she married James Vanlerberghe at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Joan was employed as a hairdresser for many years.
She was a quick-witted individual who did not mince words. She had a contagious laugh, a generous heart and loved to spoil her grandchildren. Joan was an amazing cook, enjoyed shopping and loved hosting parties. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, James; three children, Lynne (Colin) Hildebrandt, Andrew (Tammie) Vanlerberghe and Lisa (Patrice Baker) Vanlerberghe; five grandchildren, Jordan, Trevor, Kale, Lyla and James John; brothers and sister, Carol Stefl, Gerry Dillenburg, Al (Jan) Dillenburg, Don (Donnabelle) Dillenburg and Ken Dillenburg; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Art Lohrengel, Terry (Judy) Vanlerberghe, Dennis Vanlerberghe, Joan (Ross) Rhoads, Patty Vanlerberghe. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita Lohrengel; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Greg Stefl, Ron Vanlerberghe, Judy Dillenburg, Chris Dillenburg and Shirlee Lancour.
Per Joan’s wishes, she has been cremated. Friends and family may visit at the church on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Matthew Catholic Community, 130 St. Matthews St., Green Bay, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bob Kabat.
