The case against Oneida man Collyn Jorgenson has been put on hold until the end of April at the request of defense attorney Nila Robinson to give her client time to receive mental health treatment.

Amanda Bowman, the Bowler woman accused of setting her cousin’s house on fire in 2024, is scheduled to stand trial at the end of August.

The date was set during a final pre-trial hearing Feb. 25 in Shawano-Menominee Circuit Court, over three months after Judge Katherine Sloma warned that action needed to be taken after a year of delays.

The Gillett Water and Sewer Commission went 10 years without a sizable water rate increase but is now seeking rates that would nearly double the cost of water, according to documents filed with the Public Service Commission.

Average residential customers currently pay $17.91 in volume and meter charges for 3,000 gallons of water, plus the $11.67 Public Fire Protection fee on their monthly water bills.

The Shawano School Board voted 8-1 Feb. 23 on almost $1.77 million in budget cuts for the 2026-27 school year, focused mainly on staff cuts and changes and avoiding any cuts to school programs.

An attic fire at a house in Bonduel is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue, according to a Bonduel Fire Department official.

Bonduel Fire Chief Kevin Lynch said the Feb. 20 fire started in the attic.

At about 5:40 a.m., the fire department was called to a North Cecil Street home. Initial information reported a loud pop followed by smoke filling the residence.
