(Mary) Jeanne Vandenbush, 89, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Saturday morning, Nov. 8, 2014, at Sharpe Care. She was born March 24, 1925, in Oconto Falls to Sylvester and Bertha (Waschbisch) Ehlinger.
Jeanne grew up in Oconto Falls, where she attended St. Anthony Catholic Grade School and graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1944.
On June 14, 1947, she married Reuben Vandenbush at St. Anthony rectory in Oconto Falls. The couple lived in Two Rivers, Chicago and Milwaukee before moving back to Oconto Falls in 1956. Jeanne was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls and was active in the PCCW. She was also an active member of the Oconto Falls American Legion Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by her seven children, Vicky (Ron) Wierzchowski, Fond du Lac, Mary Beth (Brad) Rice, Oconto Falls, Sue (Dave) Herms, De Pere, Barb (Tony) Weiss, Chase, Tom Vandenbush, Green Bay, Sarah (Bill) Doney, Oconto Falls, Rob (Jody) Vandenbush, Green Bay; 14 grandchildren, Rachel (Jack) Vaughn, Christine, Mike and Steve (special friend, Sarah) Wierzchowski, Eric and Kyle (Amanda) Rice, Ethan (Heather) Treptow and Kimberly (Jeremy) Self, Megan (fiancé Teddy) and Ondrea Vandenbush, Ryan Doney, Carly and Dan Weiss, Abby Karbon; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Martha Becker and Margaret Ann (Eugene) Krentz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack (Margaret) Vandenbush, Viola (Arnie) Anderson, Sally Vandenbush; a very special friend, Xenia Brehmer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reuben, on July 27, 1998; four brothers, Frank, Bob, Paul and John Ehlinger; one sister, Magdalene Ehlinger; one grandson, Jeffrey David Herms; and one great-grandson, Korben Rice.
Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Vandenbush family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staffs of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital, Sharpe Care and Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown Jeanne and her family during their time together.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.
