Library has full schedule of programs in December

The Shawano City-County Library has several free programs available in December. Children’s programs are Baby & Me at 10 a.m. Dec. 1, 8 and 15; story time at 10 a.m. Dec. 2, 9 and 16; and Gather ‘Round at 10 a.m. Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Santa Storytime will take place at 10 a.m. Dec. 5. Children will enjoy stories and activities about penguins and have a chance to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bring your wish list and camera! All children in attendance will receive a free book. During students’ winter break, drop-in crafts will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Dec. 28-31. Participants will make snowmen, mittens, snowflakes and more. A free lunch for those under age 18 will be available beginning at 11 a.m. on craft days, on a first-come, first-served basis. Teen Tuesdays occur weekly from 3-5 p.m. Teens can drop in at any point to take part in fun activities and snacks. In December, participants can make a bird cat toy, snowball catapult and cocoa reindeer, string popcorn and sip hot cocoa, and play ping pong. The Not So Summer Reading program runs through Jan. 4. There’s a chance to win great prizes. Adult programs include Needles ‘R Us at 9 a.m. every Friday. Bring your needlework project and enjoy creating with others. There will also be a bus trip to the Oshkosh outlet mall on Dec. 5. The bus will leave the library at 8:45 a.m. Pre-registration is required; contact the library today to reserve your spot. The Learning Lab will have another busy month. The schedule is Gmail at 9 a.m. on Dec. 8; iPad Basics at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 8; Pinterest at 9 a.m. on Dec. 16; Google Docs at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 16; and InfoSoup’s My Account at 9 a.m. on Dec. 18. Reservations are required for Learning Lab classes. The Shawano City-County Library will close at noon on Dec. 24 and will be closed all day on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26. The Shawano City-County Library consists of the main library in Shawano, branches in Birnamwood, Bonduel, Mattoon-Hutchins, Tigerton and Wittenberg, as well as a countywide delivery service.
