Joel’s Reel Inn showcasing outdoor movies

Joel’s Reel Inn, 400 Holtwood Way, Oconto, is once again hosting its free outdoor movie series, bringing families, friends and neighbors together under the stars for a season of classic films, themed fun and community spirit. Organized by Sue Anderson, the series is held in honor of her late son, Joel, as a way to keep his memory alive through laughter, togetherness and community connection. “This is my way to remember Joel and give back to a community that’s meant so much to our family,” Anderson said. “It’s about joy, togetherness and creating memories — just like Joel would have wanted.” This year’s lineup is packed with family favorites and a couple of laugh-out-loud classics for adults. The season starts June 20 with “Monster Trucks.” In July, “Dennis the Menace” will be shown July 4, followed by “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on July 11 and “The Great Outdoors” on July 25. “Moana 2” on Aug. 1 kicks off five films for the month, followed by “Pixels” on Aug. 8, “Weekend at Bernie’s” on Aug. 15, “Goonies” on Aug. 22 and “Dr. Dolittle” on Aug. 29. In the event of rain, movies will be shown the following evening. All movies begin at dusk. In case of technical difficulties, Joel’s Reel Inn will show “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Heavy Weights” and “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.” Fresh popcorn and refreshments will be available for purchase at every showing.
