James A. Sorensen

James “Jimmy” A. Sorensen, 78, of Gillett, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Jimmy was born on Nov. 21, 1944, to the late Oscar and Catherine (Kurek) Sorensen. Jimmy was well known around Gillett and could often be seen riding his bike. He also enjoyed visiting with neighbors. During his alone time, Jimmy enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. When his family came to visit, Jimmy liked trying to give them something from his room as a gift. He loved watching old westerns, including Gunsmoke, and was an avid Packers fan. Jimmy loved living with his sister, Dorothy, for many years and missed her dearly. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Gillett. Jimmy is survived by two siblings, Darlene Hodny and Carol (Daniel) Brown; and sister-in-law, Janice Sorensen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Sorensen; brother, Ronald Sorensen; and brother-in-law, Laddie J. Hodny. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at St. John Catholic Church in Gillett from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Francis Dias officiating. He will be interred at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
