A good way to put the loss in the past is to come home and beat a conference opponent. Wittenberg-Birnamwood (1-1, 1-0) opened conference play with a 9-2 victory over Stevens Point Pacelli, snapping an eight-game losing streak despite only gaining 60 yards of offense. The Chargers’ defense created four turnovers. ^ CROSS-COUNTRY WHAT: Shawano Cross-Country Invitational WHEN: 9 a.m. Saturday WHERE: Shawano Community High School WHY IT MATTERS: Shawano’s home cross-country meet is one of the biggest of the season. With more than 25 teams and 800 runners, the Hawks will get a chance to compete against some of the best runners in the region. Also at the meet will be Bonduel and Menominee Indian.
