Helen M. Krause

Helen M. Krause, 86, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 10, 2014, at Kindred Hearts in Clintonville. Helen was born in Shawano on Jan. 30, 1928, as the daughter of the late Fred and Elsie (Luecke) Waelchli. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to Vilas Krause on April 12, 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stoney Hill. Helen helped Vilas in cheesemaking until the couple purchased a farm in Belle Plaine, where they resided since. Vilas preceded his wife in death on May 7, 2007. Helen was a current and faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church Pella Opening in the town of Pella for many years, where she enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher. Helen also worked at the Shawano Thrift Store and volunteered at Olga Brener School in Shawano. She enjoyed gardening and loved to spend time with her family. Survivors include her son, Alex (Sue) Krause, Clintonville; granddaughter, Amber Krause, Clintonville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Waelchli, Shawano; also nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vilas; a sister and brother-in-law, Arlene (Lloyd) Salzman; a brother, Clarence Waelchli; a nephew, Allan Waelchli; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law. Helen’s funeral service will be held Monday, July 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church Pella Opening in the town of Pella with the Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
