Harry Edward Thimke died May 12 at Region’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., with his family at his side. He was born on Dec. 14, 1924, in Shawano to William and Emma (Engel) Thimke.
Harry attended the University of Wisconsin Medical School, and it was during his residency in Duluth, Minn., that he met his wife, Marjorie Jean Tiffany. They were married on July 12, 1952, and moved to Iowa City, where Harry continued his medical training in anesthesiology at the University of Iowa.
In 1956, Harry and his wife, Marjorie, moved to Eau Claire, where he provided the first anesthesiology services in Eau Claire history and co-founded Eau Claire Anesthesiologists, Ltd. Harry was a longtime member of the Wisconsin Society of Anesthesiologists and served as the president in 1963.
Harry and his wife, Marjorie, lived in Eau Claire for 57 years.
Harry is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and his daughters, Jane, Janet, Judith and Mary, along with six grandsons. He is further survived by his brother, Robert Thimke, and Ruth Marshall.
A private family service has been held.
