Gordon E. Radtke, 93, of Embarrass, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton. He was born on July 3, 1920, in Zachow, the son of the late Henry and Hattie (Schwahn) Radtke.
On Dec. 18, 1943, Gordon married Lucille Huebner in Shawano. The couple lived and farmed in the Town of Hartland, Shawano County, until 1953 when they moved to Embarrass. In Embarrass they ran Radtke Foods until 1961 and then purchased and operated the Embarrass Carding Mill until retirement. Gordon served as an Embarrass village trustee and served on the Embarrass Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, where he has served on the church council for many years. His hobbies included spending time with his family, socializing and going out to eat.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lucille; daughters, Sue (Don) Haws, Embarrass, and Peggy (Wayne) Rindt, Clintonville; grandchildren, Wendy (Lance) Haddock, Utah, Jodi (Jeff Sincoular) Haws, Shawano, and Kelli (Jeff Asman) Rindt, Kimberly; great-grandchildren, Rebekah (Seth) Minnis, Hatley, Alex and Kallie Laughridge, Danielle Haws, and Amanda, Zachary and Rebecca Sincoular; great-great-grandchildren, Tirzah, Jeremiah, Levi and Silas Minnis, Alliyah Haws; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Sylvia Below and Judy (Don) Thaves, Shawano; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Myron (Lila) Radtke; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bette (Jerry) Nachtwey and Orland “Pudge” Below; and nephew, Richard Below.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, with the Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Embarrass. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
