The Gillett Public Library is collecting Halloween costumes to share with children whose parents may not be able to afford them.
Shannon Stoner, library director, reported to the Gillett City Council on Sept. 5 that people are invited to drop off gently used, clean Halloween costumes at the library, starting Sept. 17.
“Throughout the whole month of October, kids can come in and choose a costume,” Stoner said. “I found out that a couple of libraries actually do this. It’s for people who don’t have money for a child’s Halloween costume, and they can come in and take one.”
The program is for infants through young children.
“If you have any of those and your kid either outgrew it or doesn’t really need it anymore — some Halloweens, you know, they wear it once and it’s done — feel free to donate it to the library because that can help our less fortunate kids have a different Halloween costume this year,” Stoner said.
