The Gillett City Council voted Dec. 5 to dissolve the city’s Community Development Authority and move its functions into the Planning and Tourism and Marketing committees.
“When we originally started many, many, many years ago, there were some perks to having a CDA,” said Alderperson Nanette Mohr. “Over the years, it must have changed.”
The authority has been somewhat dormant, because it’s been hard to find a lot of people to volunteer to serve on CDA, and the two council committees have handled most of its duties, Mohr said.
Mayor Jon Blaskowski said recently CDA, Planning, and Tourism and Marketing have been meeting together anyway.
“We figured that anything that could be done by CDA could be done by Tourism and Marketing, so it just makes more sense to dissolve that,” Blaskowski said.
