Federal jurors found an Oconto Falls doctor guilty on three counts of producing child pornography and single counts each of possession of child porn and transporting child porn.
After a three-day trial in late April, Dr. Isaias R. Cupino Jr., 66, was also found not guilty on two other counts of producing child porn and one count of possessing it.
Cupino’s offenses allegedly involved two child victims; however, the second alleged victim resulted in jurors returning a not guilty verdict on a single count of Cupino possessing child pornography.
All the offenses were alleged to have occurred in July 2025.
Cupino has been in custody since September, according to online court records.
Cupino’s sentencing is set for July 30 before District Judge William Griesbach. He faces penalties of five to 20 years in prison on each conviction of possessing child pornography, maximum of 20 years for each production count and a maximum of 20 years on each transportation count.
Oconto Falls Police Detective Jamie Kuhn investigated a cybertip in July that suspected child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to Cupino’s Facebook account.
Police identified Cupino in one uploaded photo that showed him holding an infant. A 14-second video showed a young toddler on an adult’s lap squirming and making noises as though he is uncomfortable. The video also showed an adult male touching the toddler in a sexually explicit manner. The adult male is speaking in a foreign language but says in English, “The inspection can continue.” He laughs before the video ends.
A search of Cupino’s house recovered a computer and phone that stored other sexually explicit images. Cupino was wearing the same watch that resembled the watch depicted in the video found on Facebook.
Cupino was initially charged in Oconto County Circuit Court with child sex assault, child sexual exploitation and possession of child pornography. The charges were dismissed when the case was transferred to federal court, and he was indicted in September.
His trial was originally set for Dec. 2 but reset after more counts were added to the indictment.
Cupino was a physician in family practice when arrested last summer. He had been listed on Prevea Health’s website who provided primary care services including routine pediatric and adult care and more in Lena. That page has since been taken down, and the link redirects to Prevea’s home page.
