FFA teams recognized at annual banquet

The Oconto Falls FFA agronomy team of Emily Birr, Nathan Birr, Connor Iverson and Mercedes Ondik will compete at the national FFA competition in October. The team placed first at contests at River Falls and Fox Valley Technical College and won the state contest. Team members were honored at the FFA annual banquet April 27. Career Development Event teams also participated in contests at River Falls, Platteville and Fox Valley Technical College. By participating in these contests, members learned new skills, such as handling and restraining animals, identifying crops and weeds and judging the quality of livestock. Participants and their contest placings are Alex Borkovec, Ashley Hebel, Trever Schefdore and Karley Krueger, eighth in dairy products at FVTC and competed at state; Courtney VanHaren, Liz Manns and Abby Fournier, 15th in floriculture at FVTC; Forest Rohr, Jenny Krueger and Garrett Cole, 29th in wildlife at FVTC; Ashley Keuken, Ahlana Saray, Stephanie Wirtz and Emily Winkler, 10th at FVTC and competed at state in horse evaluation; Lexie Christensen, Taylor Barke, Sonja Sanford and Tyler Klimpke, 25th at FVTC in livestock evaluation; Ashley Baeten, Denisha Hurning, Ashley Tingley and Emily Winkler, third at state at River Falls in food science and technology; Gabby Pearce, Holly Umentum, Rachel Lambert and Veronica Hakes, sixth at River Falls, first at FVTC and third at state in vet science; and Jenna Langlay, Danielle Bursa, Amber Lubenske and Taylor Koehne, 10th at Platteville and competed at state in meat science.
