Donald K. Peterson, of Napa, Calif., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.
He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Oconto Falls to Frank and Margaret (Kadlec) Peterson. He graduated from Marinette High School on May 31, 1938.
He was married on Nov. 4, 1944, to Ione Mitchell in Bonduel. She preceded him in death on Sept. 18, 2005. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napa. He was also preceded in death by his son, Stephen, on Jan. 1, 2007.
Donald is survived by his son, Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Laura, and two stepgrandchildren, Brian and Dalene Youngblood.
Donald graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1942 with a degree in organic chemistry. From there, he went to work with Shell Chemical Co. in Houston, Texas. With Shell, he worked at various locations, which included Houston (twice), New Orleans, Philadelphia, New York City and San Francisco (twice).
Don liked sports, particularly basketball, where he led his Marinette team to the state finals in Madison. He was also an avid golfer and played most of his golf at Champion’s Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11, 2013, at the Woodlawn Shawano Cemetery, 1115 E. Green Bay St., Shawano.
