Felony theft
A Neopit woman is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing Wednesday on a felony theft charge alleging she stole more than $2,600 from the North Star Casino.
Tamerin E. Waupoose, 27, is accused of stealing the money from the till while working as a cashier at the casino between July and September.
According to the criminal complaint, money was reported missing from Waupoose’s till on 13 occasions, totaling $2,639.
Waupoose could face a maximum 3½ years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted. She is free on a $1,500 signature bond.
Felony OWI
A Waushara County man is facing a felony charge of fifth-offense operating while intoxicated after his arrest Sunday in the city of Shawano.
Jeffrey W. Rhodes, 48, of Wild Rose, was arrested after police responded to a report of an intoxicated driver in the drive-through at Hardee’s restaurant on East Green Bay Street.
Rhodes could face a maximum six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found guilty. According to the criminal complaint, Rhodes has three previous OWI convictions in Georgia and one in Calumet County.
Rhodes posted a $2,000 cash bond after a court hearing Tuesday and was due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance Sept. 23.
Sexual assault of a child
A homeless teen was ordered held on a $2,000 cash bond Monday on a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
Jonathan A. Thompson, 18, is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl in the town of Waukechon last month. He could face a maximum 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine if found guilty.
Thompson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the charge on Tuesday.
Felony theft
A Shawano man has been charged with a felony count of theft for allegedly using money intended for his mother’s care at Maple Lane Nursing Home for his own purposes.
Gregory J. Gosz, 32, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted.
Gosz was his mother’s trustee in May through July when he allegedly took Social Security money from her account that was to be used to pay her bills at Maple Lane. Gosz was removed as trustee by a court order last month after the alleged thefts came to light.
According to the criminal complaint, Gosz took $2,160 from the account over a three-month period.
Gosz is due in court for an initial appearance Sept. 30.
Possession of marijuana
A Gresham man was charged Wednesday with a felony count of second or subsequent offense possession of marijuana.
Kristoffer L.W. Wild, 24, could face a maximum 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Wild’s residence in Gresham on Aug. 16, according to the criminal complaint, and seized 4.9 grams of marijuana and several drug pipes.
Wild, who also faces a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, is due in court for an initial appearance Sept. 30.
