The Clintonville American Legion baseball team was eliminated from the Class A state tournament Friday in Viroqua with a 12-5 loss to Westby.
Westby led 4-1, but three consecutive hits — an RBI single by Adam Weatherwax, a two-RBI single by Kolin Kubitz and an RBI double by Turner Doornink — put Clintonville ahead 5-4 in the second inning.
Clintonville would be stymied the rest of the way, though, as Westby added a run in the third inning, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Austin Paisar hit a single to bring in Weatherwax in the first inning and start the scoring for Clintonville.
Kubitz finished four for four with two RBIs. Garrick Morgan was two for four. Weatherwax was two for four with an RBI. Doornink was one for four with a double and an RBI.
Nick Hoegen took the loss for Clintonville, pitching 3 1/3 innings before giving way to Parker Mindel.
Hoegen allowed seven runs on eight hits and walked two. Mindel allowed five runs on six hits and walked four.
Westby’s Jedd Sebion pitched a full game, allowing five runs on 12 hits, striking out three and walking one.
Nick Neely went three for four with a double and four RBIs for Westby.
