Church events offer support for those grieving during the holidays

The holiday season, often filled with joy and celebration, can be a challenging time for those grieving a loss or navigating personal hardships such as job transitions, relationship changes or other life struggles. To offer comfort and support during this difficult time, a Blue Christmas Service and Navigating the Holidays After Loss support group will be held Dec. 15 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1254 S. Union St., Shawano. The Blue Christmas Service, beginning at 10:30 a.m., is a contemplative worship experience designed for those who may find the season overwhelming. This gentle and reflective service provides a space to pause, honor complex emotions and seek hope and healing. A light lunch will follow, leading into the afternoon support group session. The Navigating the Holidays After Loss support group, held from noon to 1:30 p.m., offers a safe and supportive environment for participants to share their experiences, learn practical tools for managing holiday traditions and discover ways to honor their grief while engaging with the season in meaningful ways. “This event is for anyone who finds themselves struggling during the holidays,” said Nancy Schultz, event coordinator. “Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a job, a relationship or simply feel overwhelmed by life’s changes, this day offers a chance to pause, reflect and connect with others who understand. It’s about finding hope and peace, even in the midst of sorrow.” Advance registration is required for the lunch and support group.
