Chargers swim team wins big over Marinette

Sept. 5 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 130, Marinette 27 Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s swim team had little trouble dispatching the Marinette Marines 130-27 at home. The Chargers won all of the events, including two in which Marinette did not compete. Starting with the 200-yard medley relay, Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Kelsie Davis, Chloe Hanson, Faith Resch and Addison Schmidt captured first place in 2:09.33. Taking second were teammates Rylee Crick, Ava Hegewald, Reese Dickman and Andrea Powell in 2:14.02. In the 200-yard freestyle, Brooklyn Beran won in 2:13.96, followed by Claire Timm in second and Elizabeth Behnke in third. Hegewald won the 50-yard freestyle race, with Powell taking third and Schmidt in fourth. The 100-yard butterfly was won by Davis. with Crick in second. Dickman captured the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle. Resch was second and Timm third. The 500-yard freestyle was won by Olivia Bassette. Powell placed third, and Behnke was fourth. It was Davis, Beran, Hegewald and Behnke teaming up to win the 200-yard freestyle relay. Dickman, Timm, Powell and Bassette placed second. Beran won the 100-yard backstroke, with Resch in second and Schmid in third. Dickman touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke. Hegewald placed second with Hanson in third. There was no competition in the 200 yard individual medley. Davis won, with Crick in second. The same was true for the 400-yard freestyle relay. Beran, Bassette, Timm and Hanson won, with teammates Resch, Crick, Behnke and Schmidt in second.
