BABA kicks off 2026 season on Mother’s Day

The Badger Amateur Baseball Association kicked off the 2026 season May 10 with eight games in three divisions.

Birnamwood, Aniwa and Eland picked up wins in the North Division; Little Falls, Wittenberg and Tigerton won their West Division games; and Clintonville and Gresham won in the East Division. The South-Central Division did not have games scheduled and will open division play May 17.

North Division

Birnamwood 16, Hatley 0 (7 inn.)

The Kings opened North Division play by shutting out the Braves in Hatley.

Carson Meverden had four of the Kings’ 16 hits, while Tommy Gagnon, Owen Dickman, Mason Meverden, and Connor Meverden added two each.

Kodie Kocher had two of Hatley’s six hits and Hayden Davidowski, Nick Cotter, Tanner Kocher, and Braxton Olson added one hit each.

Mason Meverden gave up four hits and struck out eight batters over six innings to get the win on the mound, while Davidowski took the loss.

Aniwa 7, Elderon 5

The Orioles opened division play with a home win over the WhiskeyJacks.

Kody Szews went the distance to get the win on the mound for Aniwa, and Thomas Lemanczyk took the loss.

Chris Wiseman had three of Aniwa’s nine hits, while Gavin Steppert added two and Wade Farmer hit a home run.

Isaac Williams had four of Elderon’s 11 hits, including a home run, while Kasey Kerstner added three hits.

Eland 8, Antigo/Polar 3

The Engineers headed to Antigo and returned home with a win.

Taylor Mandich had three of Eland’s 14 hits, while Nic Barnes, Jacob Ligenza, and winning pitcher Tyler Nelson had two each.

Milo Salvesen had four of Antigo/Polar’s 10 hits, and AJ Kirsch took the loss.

West Division

Little Falls 11, Leopolis 1 (7 inn.)

Winning pitcher Carter Kurki and reliever Kyle Finger teamed up to hold the Bulldogs to one run and four hits.

Carter worked the first four innings and struck out seven batters, while Finger pitched the final three innings to get the save.

Cam Gruenwald led the Loggers with three hits, including a home run, and a pair of RBIs. Drew Radies added two hits, and Carter Melum hit his first career home run.

Jared Stuhr took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Wittenberg 8, Caroline 5

Wittenberg made its West Division debut with a win over the Cougars.

Nathan Waupenkenay scattered six hits over six innings and struck out 12 batters to get the win on the mound. Kade Rosenow took the loss after giving up eight runs over four innings.

Aaron Heyroth led Wittenberg with two hits. Dylan Danforth had three hits to lead Caroline, while Mason Breitenfeldt and Jared Cartwright added two each.

Tigerton over Tilleda

A final score was not available, but Tigerton opened division play with a win over the Woodchucks.

Austin Hoffmann had a big day at the plate for the Tigers, as he led the team with four hits, including three doubles. Joey Zimdars added three hits, and Izaiah Hiddie had a solo home run.

Beau Brunner and Zach Fehrman led Tilleda with three and two hits, respectively.

Paul Sellner picked up the win on the mound, and Fehrman took the loss.

East Division

Clintonville 9, Marion 2

The A’s headed to Marion and picked up a win over the Meisters.

Austin Hoffman led Clintonville with four hits, while Hunter Vollmer and Zach Schafer added two each.

Mitch Elandt, Hudson Miller, and Hayden Miller had two hits to lead Marion.

Jaden Doornink picked up the win on the mound and Hunter Miller took the loss.

Gresham 24, Shawano 4 (7 inn.)

Walker Miller picked up the win on the mound for the Gophers and Mike Korth took the loss.

May 17 schedule (all games start at 1:30 p.m.)

East Division: Menominee at Shawano; Marion at Gresham; Clintonville has bye. West Division: Caroline at Leopolis; Wittenberg at Tilleda; Tigerton at Little Falls. North Division: Elderon at Birnamwood; Eland at Crandon; Antigo/Polar at Hatley; Aniwa has bye. South-Central Division: New London at Weymont; Scandinavia at Plover.
