Ri Lee’s Stellar Performance, a locally bred, raised and owned dog, won Top 20 Invitational honors at the Tibetan Terrier National Specialty held May 28-30 in Loveland, Colorado. Known as Reese, the Tibetan Terrier is owned by Nikkie Kinziger of Ri Lee Kennels in Oconto Falls, which offers boarding and grooming for all breeds.
It’s the fourth time Ri Lee Kennels has won the award since the event’s inception in 1999.
Reese, who also won in 2012, is following in the footsteps of his mother, Ri Lee’s Deja Stella By Starlight. Stella also won the Top 20 competition and won the nationals in 2004.
May’s competition was an invitation-only event in which the Top 20-ranked Tibetan Terriers in America from the previous year’s competition were eligible to compete. Each dog was judged by three judges on how it fits the American Kennel Club written standards, and on movement and overall general presentation.
Judges this year were AKC judge Robert Shreve, professional handler Jennifer Smith and breeder judge Andrea Reiman, all of Colorado.
Other honors won by Ri Lee show dogs were Winners Dog, Best of Winners (earning a new champion title) and Stud Dog class winner.
Kinziger’s vision is to produce the most healthy, genetically sound Tibetan Terrier possible via extensive genetic testing and attention to bloodline. Ri Lee Kennels is known worldwide for its dogs and their winning records.
