Suring High School commencement was held May 24 in the high school gymnasium.
The 33 candidates for graduation were Sawyer Anderson, Angela Baldwin, Jericho Benser, Carley Berg, Allyson Britten, John Caldwell, Daphne DesJarlait, Brittany Ehnerd, Erin Fisher, Tyler Fisher, Faith Garczynski, Tia Giese, Tyler Herning, John Horst, Anthony Jazwiecki, Dillon Kempen, Dalton Kopatz, Austin Krizek, Jacquelyn Lenz, Autumn Michaletz, Reese Otradovec, Zachariah Otradovec, Brandi Overland, Casey Overland, McKenna Pyawasit, Kelsey School, Rachel Sleeter, Ramsay Thompson, Nathan Tiutczenko, Markley Trever, Calley Van Bellinger, Chancelor Whiting and Ella Wood.
The valedictory address was presented by Trever, and Lenz presented the salutatory address. A senior video presentation created by the business publications class was shown. Wood read the senior plans, and Pyawasit presented the senior class poem, which she wrote.
Van Bellinger presented the annual dedication. The “2015 Soaring High” was dedicated to Randy Fisher.
Diplomas were presented by Eugene School, Wayne Sleeter and Mark Strehlow of the Suring School Board.
Superintendent Robert Ray presented the magna cum laude medals to Berg, Britten, Lenz, Sleeter, Trever, Van Bellinger and Wood. The cum laude medals were presented to Anderson, Erin Fisher, Jazwiecki, Kempen, Kopatz and School.
Departmental awards were presented to Casey Overland, agriculture; Trever, English and instrumental music; Giese, family and consumer education; Wood, German; Van Bellinger, history; Britten, math and science; Anderson, physical education; School, technical education; and Baldwin, vocal music.
The Suring High School Band, under the direction of John Quigley, performed “Whiteleaf Hill” for the senior graduation song. The band also played “Pomp and Circumstance” for the processional and “Faith of Our Fathers” for the recessional.
The seniors from the concert choir, under the direction of Quigley, sang “The End of Summer,” as recorded by the band Theory of a Deadman.
Tamara Steffeck and Carol Andrews, senior class advisers, were in charge of arrangements. Becky Dickson and Greg Lechleitner were in charge of seating and ushering. Mikaela Reed and Jade Schneider presented the traditional flower to each graduate.
