The Barn Quilts of Oconto County project installed its first two barn quilts for 2015 at the Peterson farm in Sobieski.
Robert Peterson purchased the farm in 1989 and milked cows until his retirement in 2008. The farm was then sold to Robert’s son John, who raises calves and has several cats and a dog at the property. John purchased the barn quilts for his father, who likes the barn quilts.
The Petersons had two barn quilt blocks installed at their farm, and they mark number 25 and 26 on the Barn Quilts of Oconto County trail.
Quilt block 25 is located on their barn and is a combination of three different quilt block patterns: crossed canoes, four-patch and eight-pointed star. Quilt block 26 is located on their shed and is a modified 1904 star pattern.
Employees of Oconto Electric Cooperative installed the quilts.
