Hilary M. Rosenheim, 26, of Hilliard, Ohio, and formerly of Clintonville, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at her home.
Hilary Marie Rosenheim was born on July 29, 1989, at Clintonville Hospital to John and Rita (Hicks) Rosenheim. She was raised in Clintonville and graduated from Clintonville High School in 2007. While in school she played percussion in concert, marching and jazz band, earning the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award as a senior. Also in high school she played softball and soccer, was part of the Marion Chess Team, participated in the Math League in Clintonville and could solve the Rubik’s Cube in just minutes. She received the Pi Award in high school for memorizing 1,027 digits of the endless number.
After high school, Hilary attended Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota, graduating in 2011. She then went on to medical school at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. Hilary was united in marriage on May 10, 2015, to Jessie G. Ellner, M.D., in New York, New York, and they celebrated a Christian wedding in Cleveland on May 24. The couple settled in Hilliard to be close to college and the hospital.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and also attended Family of Christ Church, both in Clintonville. Hilary was involved in various activities at both churches, but will be especially remembered playing the drums at Family of Christ. She was gifted musically and could play not only the drums but the piano as well. Hilary enjoyed ballroom dancing, painting with acrylics on canvas and watching the Green Bay Packers. She was always a problem solver, which led her to pursue her dream of becoming an emergency room doctor or a family practitioner.
Hilary had a wonderful sense of humor, a beautiful smile that lit up the room, and was always helping someone else. She liked to bake desserts and even made birthday cakes for lots of her friends.
Survivors include her spouse, Jessie; her mother, Rita (Edward) Braund, of Clintonville; her father, John (Janice) Rosenheim, of Clintonville; and her father- and mother-in-law, James Theobald and Vivian Ellner, of New York. There are four aunts, Miriam (Miguel Moscoso) Ellner, of New York, Carol Samson, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Dot Bannon, of Gilbert, Arizona, and Tobi Hicks, of Sun City, Arizona. There are three uncles, Tom (Valerie) Theobald, of Bolton, Massachusetts, Ray (Mary Ellen) Hicks, of Stevensville, Michigan, and David Hicks, also her godfather, of Benton Harbor, Michigan. She is further survived by five aunts and one uncle on the Braund side, and many other relatives and friends.
Hilary was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Pete and Marie Hicks; paternal grandparents, Don and Jean Rosenheim; a maternal aunt, Rosemary Stevens; and a maternal uncle, Don Hicks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 24 Seventh St., Clintonville. The Rev. John “Jack” Mullarkey and Deacon Lincoln Wood will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, 299 S. Main St., Clintonville, and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a college scholarship fund with be established in Hilary Rosenheim’s name to help a student enter the medical field.
