Gillett seeks input on community center project

The Gillett Library will hold a community brainstorming session to discuss the new community center/community square project. The session begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, in the former BMO Harris Bank building, 204 E. Main St., Gillett. The library purchased the bank with plans to create a community center and transform the outdoor space around both buildings into a community square. Tentative plans are to do the project in three phases. Phase 1 will create two meeting rooms in the bank building and add a second bathroom and display space. Phase 2 will convert the library’s meeting room into more seating for Wi-Fi use, studying and socializing, and shelving for library collections. Phase 3 will transform the outdoor space around both buildings into a community square. The square could be used for a farmers market, lunchtime or evening entertainment, ice skating in winter, interactive water feature in summer, after-school activities, seasonal events or festivals, etc. The library encourages area businesses, civic groups and individuals to participate in the planning of the new community space.
