George A. Warrington Sr., 67, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born on Aug. 8, 1947, in Chicago to Kenneth and Lillian Warrington.
George is survived by his wife, Wanda; three children, Richard (Arienna), George Jr., Tara; and two grandchildren, Carolina Mangru and Brittany Kimlole Warrington. He is also survived by five sisters, Janice (Leonard) LaTender, Dianna Fish, Constance (Robert) Chevalier, Deborah Warrington, Cheryl (Al Martinez) Warrington; one brother, Kenneth Warrington Jr.; several nieces and nephews, Kristen, Robert, Anawaiwaiska, Michael, Beatrice, Antoine, Ryan, Amber, Dianna, Kayla, Lillian and Niko, and special nephew, Bobby Joe Sanapaw; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
George was raised on the Menominee Indian Reservation, Neopit, with his siblings. He entered the Marine Corps in May, 1965, where he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After the Marine Corps, George attended Stout State University where he met his wife, Wanda. They were married on April 5, 1980, and resided in Wisconsin until 1989, when they moved to their home in Rockledge, Florida.
George primarily worked in law enforcement, which includes the following: Menominee Tribal Law Enforcement Center, Menominee Tribal EMT Service and the Rockledge Law Enforcement Center in Florida. George dedicated his final years to public service. He was an active member of VFW Post 4535 and enjoyed karaoke, poker and Bingo.
George was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Robert “Issa” Fish Sr. and Warren “Eagle” Chevalier.
