Earl Roy Vaughn Jr.

Earl Roy Vaughn Jr., 73, passed away at home with his wife by his side March 5, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 19, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Earl and Edith (Martin) Vaughn Sr. Earl married Marcella Denowski on May 13, 1972. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Region for five years and was a member of the American Legion. Earl was a painter in California, Missouri and Arizona until retirement in 2004. He enjoyed golfing, visiting with grandsons, playing cards and going to McGuire’s in Lena. Earl is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marcy; one son, Stephen Vaughn, California; two grandsons, Alex and Nick Vaughn, California; one sister, Brenda Poole, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Lou Ann) Denowski, Lena, and Randy (Colleen) Denowski, Lena; four sisters-in-law, Betty (Ken) Kocken, Oconto Falls, Irene (Chris) Langham, California, Helen (Lenny) Bajorek, Oconto, and Teresa (Mark) Wisniewski, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Dean Groh; sister, Doris Johnston; nephew, Steve Maloney; brother-in-law, Ervin Denowski; sisters-in-law, Kathy Kipness and Janice Martin. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena, is assisting the family with arrangements. A gravesite memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Lena, with Deacon Peter Gard officiating, followed by military honors given by the Lena American Legion.
