Christopher J. “CJ” Wold, 31, Oconto Falls, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2014, as the result of being struck by lightning the previous evening.
He was born Nov. 22, 1982, in La Crosse to Christopher L. and Katherine (Schoen) Wold. As a little boy, CJ moved with his parents to the Oconto Falls area, where he attended public schools, graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School with the Class of 2001.
CJ was employed in the family industrial painting business, C&L Contracting in Gillett. He was also a disc jockey and along with his brother, Andy, created their own record label with friends, two face media the brotherhood. CJ enjoyed music and poetry and will be fondly remembered as one who liked to live each day to the fullest.
Survivors are his mother, Kathy (Jeff) Suess, Sturgeon Bay; his paternal grandmother, Marlene Wold, Millston; his soul mate, Courtney Oien, and daughter, Izzy; three brothers, Andy (Quinn) Wold, Gillett, Cody Suess, Sturgeon Bay, and Jason (Jamie) Linder, Oconto Falls; one sister, Amanda (Chance) Suess, Sturgeon Bay; his stepmother, Laurie Wold, Gillett; aunts and uncles, Nick (Cathy) Wold and Brian (Judy) Wold, all of Lena; Brent (Jill) Wold, Menomonie; Richard “Buck” (Tammy) Wold, Millston; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chris Wold, on Sept. 15, 2011; his paternal grandfather, Douglas Wold; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Schoen; and an aunt, Cynthia Wold.
Visitation was held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with CJ’s Uncle Brian Wold officiating. Cremation followed, with burial of the urn near his father in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett.
As an organ donor, CJ has given the gift of extended life to others in dire need. Through death there is life.
