The Shawano County Arts Council and The Box in the Wood Theatre Guild will present $400 checks to the Shawano County Historical Society and Shawano Area Mathew 25 (SAM 25).
The funds were raised from donations collected at this year’s annual Christmas program, “Hometown Christmas,” which was held Dec. 6-7. The free annual event is presented as a community service project by the Shawano County Arts Council and The Box in the Wood Theatre Guild. Patrons are asked to make a free will offering for charity as their price of admission.
Director Denise Riley chose the charities to benefit from the performances.
“We like to think of our annual Christmas show as our gift to the community that supports us throughout the year,” said Mary Madsen, guild & SCAC president. “We are happy to return that support in the form of these gifts to these deserving organizations.”
SAM 25 is a new organization working to meet the needs of the homeless and those living in poverty.
The funds given to the county historical society have been designated to go toward restoration of the country church on the grounds of Heritage Park.
