Carol M. Pytleski

Carol M. Pytleski, 99, passed away peacefully Friday, March 28, 2025. Carol was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Lena to the late Alton and Mayme (Gehrke) Goodell. On June 12, 1948, Carol married William (Bill) Pytleski. They farmed in the Town of Spruce until retirement in 1979. Carol graduated from Lena High School with the class of 1944. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 342 – Lena for 76 years, served as a poll worker for the Town of Spruce and was instrumental in initiating Youth Government Day in Oconto County. Carol had a deep love for her family, neighbors and the company of friends. She found joy in traveling with friends, creating cherished memories along the way. Nothing brought her more happiness than caring for her loved ones, especially when they were ill — her famous “baby pudding” was a comforting remedy that became a family tradition. Carol’s kitchen was always filled with freshly baked cookies, a special treat she lovingly made for her grandkids, and her famous pickles. Carol is survived by four children, Victoria Coopman, Jeff (Cheryl) Pytleski, Jim (Janet) Pytleski and Jane (Donald) Hoffman; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Melissa) Pytleski, Amy (Bucky) Skalitzky, Ben (Kim) Pytleski, Beth Anne (Mike) Bubolz, Sheila (Jason) Corroo, Kevin (Angela) Pytleski, Ashley (Greg) Stueber and Jason Hoffman, 15 great-grandchildren, Will, Connor and Addison Pytleski, Kate, Jeffrey and Henry Pytleski, Audrey, Rosemary and Grace Bubolz, Peyton and Harper Corroo, Lily and Piper Pytleski, and Claire and Carter Stueber. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; two sisters; a brother-in-law; and one son-in-law; Jeff Coopman. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Anne Catholic Church 221 E. Main St., Lena, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Ben Johnson officiating. Carol will be placed to rest at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Spruce. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Carol’s name.
