Boos promoted to finance director

The deputy finance director for Oconto County has been promoted to finance director. The Oconto County Board on Thursday selected Terri Boos to replace the retiring Terry Hinds, effective March 8, 2015. Hinds, directors since 1991, retires on March 6. “I’ve enjoyed my tenure here. It’s been very productive,” Hinds said. As the county’s first finance director, Hinds “set the bar” for the position, he said. “I feel good about what I’ve done the last 22 year, and it’s time to retire.” Boos, of Oconto, has served as deputy director since 2000 and has worked in the accounting field for 30 years. She previously worked for Bellin Health, Dean’s Foods, Schneider National and the Army Air Force Exchange Services at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. She holds a certified public accountant license and earned a four-year accounting degree from Northern Michigan University in 1995. Hinds recommended her for the position, saying she is well qualified and “knows the ins and out of the department.” “She’s a very good fit. People know here and respect her,” he said. Boos will receive a salary of $73,437. The county will advertise to fill the position of deputy finance director. The finance department is a two-person department that is responsible for variety of financial services, including supervising the annual budget process and overseeing the central accounting, payroll and cash management services for all departments.
