A poker run fundraiser earned around $9,000 to help pay for medical expenses for Jerry Wuske.
“I can’t say enough how family, friends and area community businesses all came together to make this such an amazing success,” Donna Wuske said.
Donna Wuske and her husband, Ron, organized the benefit for his cousin who was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic thyroid cancer earlier this summer.
Jerry Wuske has no health insurance.
“We had over 40 vehicles, including ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles, old vehicles and one semi that came on the ride,” Donna Wuske said. “We had 70 people sign up to eat at Sassy’s Bad Habit. We had around 107 baskets on the basket raffle, plus around 13 larger silent auction items.”
The basket raffle and silent auction items were donated by area individuals and businesses.
Eight bars were included in the run that started and ended at the Wuskes’ bar, The Dam Barn on Weasel Dam Road east of Tigerton.
After the poker run, the bluegrass band The Burdocks performed, as did Scott Wuske on his concertina. Fireworks ended the daylong fundraiser.
