The Bonduel High School football team gave up a few big plays in Friday’s homecoming game against Central Wisconsin Conference-8 foe Iola-Scandinavia, but relentless running by its three-headed backfield was more than enough to get the 44-29 win.
Bonduel running backs Hunter VanderLinden, Dan Tauchen and Hunter Berry combined for 319 of Bonduel’s 358 yards.
VanderLinden, who scored two short-yardage touchdowns in the first half, finished with 30 carries for 141 yards for Bonduel (4-1, 2-1 CWC-8). Berry chipped in 71 yards on seven carries.
Tauchen came in late with fresh legs and dominated the fourth quarter with three touchdown runs. He finished with 13 carries for 107 yards.
Quarterback Colton Dobratz was 6 of 12 passing for 114 yards. He scored on a 4-yard keeper in the second quarter.
Connor Rosin kicked a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter for the Bears.
Iola-Scandinavia (3-2, 1-2) took a 7-0 lead on a 83-yard pass from Cameron Gruenewald to Evan Fuhs on its first play from scrimmage. The Thunderbirds added another touchdown later in the first quarter, and scored two more in the fourth.
