Abrams troupe to present ‘Nunsense’

Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will present “Nunsense” in seven performances at The Byng Community Theater in Abrams. “Nunsense,” with book, music and lyrics by Dan Goggin, begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover their cook has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters. In dire need of funds for the burials, the sisters decide to raise the money by putting on a variety show. The sisters take over Mount St. Helen’s school auditorium, which is set up for the school’s production of “Grease.” Come meet Reverend Mother Mary Regina (Brandon Byng); Sister Mary Hubert (Kari Devine), the mistress of novices; Sister Robert Anne (Elizabeth Zitny), a streetwise nun from Brooklyn; Sister Mary Leo (Ali Carlson), a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia (Karen Fuller). Featuring star turns, tap dancing and ballet, an audience quiz and comic surprises, this show has delighted audiences with more than 5,000 productions worldwide and has been translated into 21 languages. Opening night, 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, will be celebrated with a gala. Patrons will joint the cast and crew for complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks after the show. Subsequent show times are 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11 and 18; 1 p.m. Sunday, April 12 and 19; and 7 p.m. Friday, April 17. Performances are at The Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. Tickets are $12 for adults (18-64), $10 for seniors (65 and older) and youth (5-17), and $5 for children (4 and younger).
