Over the past few months, our team at the Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department, has been navigating a wave of new information from federal public health agencies. Sometimes that guidance doesn’t quite line up with what we hear from the state, and we know that can cause confusion or debate.

A physician with ThedaCare is shining the spotlight on sepsis and the role early recognition may play in keeping people healthy and safe.

Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming reaction to an existing infection. It can cascade into life-threatening symptoms, including tissue and organ damage that may lead to death, said Dr. Melanie Rohloff, family medicine physician.

What may seem like a minor incident may quickly turn serious, especially for older adults. That’s why ThedaCare is sharing tips to help people stay on their feet.

“Workplace violence is a workplace hazard and should not be accepted,” said Jamin Homan, ThedaCare registered nurse.

Homan’s comments capture the essence of why ThedaCare has strengthened its efforts to help curb the likelihood of violence on its campuses. Homan is one of the experts leading the movement to reduce and prevent incidents of violence at ThedaCare.

Dana Brenner was already a home-based worker when she decided to start another business, Dana’s Duds Laundry Service.

The personalized laundry service was started by Brenner in Shawano about two months ago.
